This post will show you how to open the class notes in OneNote 2003 or 2007.
A common misunderstanding with OneNote is the concept of adding PDFs and
PowerPoint files to the program. When I got my tablet, I thought to
myself, "why can't I open PowerPoint files in OneNote--I mean, they are
made by the same company?" I have learned to deal with the way ON
handles these files. To get PowerPoints and PDFs into ON is simple.
• Open the file that you wish to put into OneNote • Click “file” • Point to “print” • Then, find the “send to OneNote” printer • Once you selected that printer, click on “options” (It may be called “advanced”—I can’t remember). • Click on the second tab—here, you can change the location that the file is printed to. You can also specify if you want each page in the handout to be a separate ON page, or if you want the handout to be one page in ON. • Click “ok” • Then click “print”
The file should now be imported. Note flag searching in 2003 doesn’t work if you make the entire PDF print to a single ON page. You should choose the option to have ON print each page as a subpage of the first.
For 2007:
• From ON 2007, click on “insert” • Point to and click on “file as printout” • Find the file that you want to print. • Then, select “OK”.
The file will now print itself into the current section as an appendage of the page you were working on. You can change this by doing the following:
• Click on “tools” • Click on “options” • Click on “filing rules”
Here you can change the default settings for importing files.
Honestly, I like the old OneNote print driver, but that one didn’t allow searching of your notes. The new Beta2TR that is to come out in a couple of weeks will resolve these problems.
