There is a feature built into OneNote 2007 that will auto-backup your notes for you on another computer. Also, it will allow you to take notes on a seperate computer, and always have them synced. It is called the "shared notebook".
Here is what you need to know:
Anytime you make a change on the laptop, it will show up on the desktop (assuming you are connected to the same network). If you are at school, and you make a change on the laptop, when you return at night to the desktop, it will sync it. I have never tried this method exactly like this. I created the shared notebook on my laptop, then synced my desktop (I explained the other way around). I am recommending (for the time being) that you make the notebook on your desktop. The reason is that anybody would be able to delete the notebook that is shared over the network. However, with a home network, that isn't a problem. My only concern is that the notebook on your laptop is stored in a cache file, and I don't know how well it will work being gone all day long. I think it should be fine. Test it out and let me know (I don't go to class anymore, so I can't test it).
Good luck! Trust me, the shared notebook is really cool and a great way to have a backup of your notes. It may seem a little tedious to set it up, but, it is pretty simple once you understand the concept. Ask for help, if you need it.
