Sick of Credit Card Ads in the Mailbox?
Written by Erik Gulbrandsen

Are you sick of getting letters in the mail from credit card companies?  Well, I'm sick of it!  The FTC has provided a method to tell the credit agencies (which, by the way, can legally sell your information) that you don't want your info sold.  It is a quick phone call, and allows for up to 5 years of "blocking".  I highly recommend it!

I did this a year ago and get much less credit apps, though I still get some. All it does is not allow companies to access your credit history so they will tend to not send you apps since they don't know your history. You can permanently optout if you send them a letter which is what I did.
