Carbondale Rotations--my first day
Written by Erik Paul Gulbrandsen

For those that are still wondering where to do your rotations, you should really check out Carbondale.  My first day is on Tuesday, and this is what we have lined up for that day:

1. Reversal Colostomy

2. Lumpectomy of the right breast

3. Lap cholecystectomy

4. Excision of lipoma

5. Another lap chole

6. Colon Resection

This is my very first day, and, I'm first assist for all of those (and every surgery that we will do this month).  I met with the surgeon yesterday, and he was wonderful with me.  The students here say that he "gives you back your faith in surgeons".  They say he is a true student advocate, and not a stereotypical surgeon.

I really love the "unopposed" feel here, and I think that anybody considering FP should come here, and those considering something else should strongly consider the site.
